In warm and lively corners of restaurants across Durbanville, Cape Town, something truly extraordinary has been happening for the past 23 years. Month after month, through seasons and storms, a number of incredible women have gathered, not just to talk about books, but to celebrate friendship, wisdom, and the power of story.

This isn’t your average book club. Each member is a powerhouse in her own right, business owners, Chartered Accountants, professionals who juggle boardrooms by day and book discussions by night. Their bond is strong, their laughter infectious, and their insights as deep as the books they devour.

Louis-Delien, the beloved owner of Cattle Baron, has been a proud part of this journey for the past 10 years. She’s more than a host; she’s part of the story. With glasses of wine raised and stories swapped, she helps create the kind of magic only found in true community.

It was my absolute honor to join them recently as they discussed Echoes, a book that became something more in their hands, a conversation starter, a memory maker, and perhaps even a tearjerker or two.
